The wording on the pact magic is a bit weird to me and I'm not sure how to interpret it, so I figured I would ask here. Sorry for the stupid questions in advance 1 If I multiclassed into wizard, what happens to the slot from the warlock level? I get 2 1st level slots from wizard, so what happens with the warlock slot? Would it be another 1st level slot that can only be used on warlock spells or does it not work like that at all? If I were to go further into wizard than warlock, could I use my 2nd or 3rd level spell slots to cast a warlock spell?For new players, choosing a single class for a character is a great introduction to the game.

If the Hit Dice are the same die type, you can simply pool them together. If your classes give you Hit Dice of different types, keep track of them separately. Your proficiency bonus is always based on your total character level, as shown in the Character Advancement table, not your level in a particular class. When you gain a new level in a class, you get its features for that level.
You gain additional uses only when you reach a class level that explicitly grants them to you. Whenever you use the feature, you can choose any of the Channel Divinity effects available to you from your two classes. How do Warlocks work out multiclassing, beyond a few level dips. Unlike other spellcasters, Pact casting doesn't exactly add together with your caster levels, so you don't get higher level slots. You have tons of low level slots, though.
If it wasn't for there being plenty of damaging spells on the Warlock's spell list, I'd be tempted to think of them as a non-caster with their fighter comparable eldritch blast damage.
Do you think there's another way to do it? Off the cuff, I'm wondering if this would be possible: Pact Magic and Multiclassing: If you have both the Spellcasting class feature and the Pact Magic class feature from the warlock class, total your levels to determine your total spell slots.
Your Pact Magic feature allows you to recover spell slots on a short rest; after a short rest, you regain a number of slots equal to the Warlock's "spell slots" column for your level of slot level determined by the warlock's "slot level" column on their class table.
Ignore the "Mystic Arcanum" class features, as they overlap with this. Yes, this is a strict power up, but I think it's a power up to builds that are strictly ignored. It's also my first stab at this.
What are your thoughts? Doesn't work at all. Let's say I'm a level 10 warlock, and normally I'd be really excited to hit level 11 and get my third slot, but why would I when I can take a single level of sorcerer under your house rule and, BAM, 16 spell slots just like that. Basically, you will guarantee that all warlocks will multiclass eventually while giving them a tremendous power boost over any other caster, because warlock levels essentially give you double spellcasting with this scheme.
They're all weak because they forgo high level spells, not because of how they tally their spell slots. Upranking level 5 spells isn't really more powerful than casting a lot of them. With Expertise, an additional skill, and if taking two levels Cunning Action, this is a solid combination. Bard is a pretty versatile core class. Like many other spellcasting classes, Bards use Charisma as their primary stat. Classes that also utilize Charisma are prime candidates to multiclass with Bard.

A Bard who chooses College of Valor will get armor proficiencies, but a Bard who multiclasses one level with Fighter will get these benefits all the same. Additionally, Cunning Action is useful for improved mobility.
In our opinion, Clerics should just go full Cleric. With the right Domain, a Cleric will gain heavy armor proficiencies. Additionally, Clerics get a multitude of abilities with Domains and Channel Divinities.

Pact Magic. If you have both the Spellcasting class feature and the Pact Magic class feature from the warlock class, you can use the spell slots you gain from the Pact Magic feature to cast spells you know or have prepared from classes with the Spellcasting class feature, and you can use the spell slots you gain from the Spellcasting class feature to cast warlock spells you know.
Do the spell slots keep their previous method of recovery sorcerer slots long rest, warlock slots any restor do they all act consistently as I am led to believe from the language of the multiclass section? Do they all recover only from long rests as per the sorcerer feature, or can they all be recovered with a short rest because the warlock feature says so? The language in the multiclassing section only mentions how you cast spells, not how you recover them.
Note that recovery isn't mentioned at all in that paragraph. The spell slots are interchangeable when you're casting, but they recover based on their own mechanics. Unlike spell slots from multiple classes with Spellcasting, they don't merge into one pool; they remain separate except when you're actually casting out of them.

You determine your available spell slots by adding together all your levels in the bard, cleric, druid, sorcerer, and wizard classes, half your levels in the paladin and ranger classes, and a third of your fighter or rogue levels if you have the [ Note that Warlock is not listed. You do not add Warlock spell slots to other spellcasting classes to achieve a total as per the chart on page PHB.
You keep them separate. Thus specifically your Warlock slots are the only short rest recharged slots. Maybe that'll ease some confusion, and happy gaming.
